José Roberto Acarón State Director, AARP Puerto Rico José Roberto Acarón has been serving as the State Director of AARP in Puerto Rico since October 2004, bringing over 20 years of leadership and expertise in advocacy, volunteer management, and fundraising. His dedication to improving the quality of life for older adults has made a significant impact on the community in Puerto Rico. Before joining AARP, José held the role of Regional Director for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, where he worked for 14 years, leading initiatives that supported those affected by neuromuscular diseases. His extensive background in nonprofit management is reinforced by his solid educational foundation. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from the Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez and a Bachelor of Arts in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland, College Park. Fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, José brings a multicultural perspective to his work, ensuring inclusivity and broader engagement across diverse populations.
